For 124 years Peterborough Operatic and Dramatic Society have been producing award winning shows to the Peterborough Area. See below for a full list of all of our musicals and plays, as well as a few cast testimonials of what its like to be in a PODS show.
Little Shop of Horrors
“On the twenty-third day of the month of September, in an early year of a decade not too long before our own. The human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its very existence and this terrifying enemy surfaced, as such enemies often do, in the seemingly most innocent and unlikely of places”.
Featuring well-known songs such as ‘Suddenly Seymour’ and ‘Somewhere That’s Green’, join Seymour, Audrey, Mr Mushnik and the rest of Skid Row for this charmingly tongue-in-cheek musical. But be careful, ‘Ya Never Know’ what’s in store!

Oliver!
Spring 2024
Consider yourself at home with Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on the Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist. The Tony and Olivier Award-winning show is one of the few musicals to win an Academy Award for Best Picture and is widely hailed as a true theatrical masterpiece.
The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver escapes from his mistreated life to find his fortune in London. Here he finds the friendship of Jack Dawkins, otherwise known as The Artful Dodger, who takes him under his wing under the leadership of Fagin and his gang. With the well known iconic songs including “Food Glorious Food”, “I’d Do Anything” and “Oom Pah-Pah” you are bound to be tapping your feet as you see the classic film come to life.
Blithe Spirit
Blithe Spirit is set at the house of writer Charles Condomine and his wife Ruth. One evening Charles invites his friends to attend a seance at his house hosted by the local eccentric medium Madame Arcati, intending to gather character inspiration for his latest book. Despite initially thinking the seance has been a failure, it soon becomes clear that this was not the case when the spirit of Charles’ ex-wife comes to visit, for only Charles to see.

show for you!

Shrek The Musical
Spring 2022
“Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek....” And so begins
the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey
alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue.
Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen
other misfits, and you’ve got a spectacular production that turns the world of
fairytale upside down in an all-singing, all-dancing, must-see musical comedy.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical
is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure, featuring all new songs and a
side-splitting story guaranteed to delight audiences of all ages!
Elf; The Musical
Elf the musical follows the heart-warming story of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang
Autumn 2019
An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, sets about restoring an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima. But they soon discover the car has magical properties and can both take to the seas and the skies. Trouble brews however once the evil Baron Bomburst spots and desires the magic car for himself and Caractacus and the children must join forces with Truly Scrumptious and batty Grandpa to fight for their fine four-fended friend that’s become one of the family, all in between escaping the clutches of the villainous child catcher.
The Producers
A failed producer and an accountant... what could go wrong? Upon the massive failings of Max Bialystock's last show, he recruits sad account Leopold Bloom for a new production. This time though it's designed to fail! An eccentric director, former Nazi, Swedish secretary, and a bunch of grannies all come together to put a show on about... Hitler.
This Mel Brooks comedy musical is wildly inappropriate, odd, and all together an absolute night to remember.
